MEMPHIS! Day 1.

I have been meaning to blog about our trip to Memphis that we took two months ago, but life is busy! With the newest addition to the Wood family having arrived last night,  I have been thinking a lot about Isaac's brothers family that we went and visited.
Emmett, our nephew, called Isaac quite a few months ago and invited us to come out for his baptism. We decided that we really wanted to take a visit, so we made it happen.
We decided that if we were going to go, that we needed to go for more than just a couple days. We decided to be there for a full three days, with an additional two days of travel. We left Wednesday, October 8, after classes got out for the day, and came back Sunday afternoon.

Wednesday:
We drove to Idaho Falls after class.
Our flight left from Idaho Falls to Salt Lake at around 6pm.
We got into Memphis just after midnight.
The first night Isaac and I stayed in the hotel with his parents. We stayed at The Hotel Memphis.

Landing in Salt Lake at sunset

Thursday:
First thing Thursday morning we went to the Peabody hotel in downtown Memphis, to watch the Peabody ducks walk.

We then headed down to Beale Street to walk around.

We then went for a drive, and were momentarily in Arkansas! Isaac wanted to go across the "m" bridge.

Lunch time, and then on to Graceland. Thanks to Isaac's parents, we were able to take a tour through the house w/ipads. We also went through both planes, and checked out all of the cars

This is the first thing you look at when you walk in. Upstairs is where Elvis's bedroom is. We didn't get to go upstairs. I have been curious about what else is up there ever since we saw this much.
Left half of living room

Right half of living room. Custom couch, really big!
Dining Room. When family is in town, they still eat at this table.

Elvis' parents bedroom
Elvis' parents bathroom
Another set of stairs off the kitchen (I really wanted to go check it out up there!)
Microwave. He purchased one of the first ones, ever. It cost around $600 (if I recall correctly)

Kitchen. It was a lot cooler than my picture shows.

Game/hang out room
Walls and ceiling covered entirely with fabric
TV room

Jungle room/ don't remember it's purpose

Third set of stairs going upstairs. I REALLY WANTED TO GO UPSTAIRS!

Carpet ceilings!
Fabric Walls

Entire huge hall was lined with all of his awards. This part was not in his house, but in a museum behind the house.

Sink on his airplane, gold sink.

The bed on his bigger plane. It has a seatbelt!
This is smaller plane.

Elvis bought this cadillac for his mom, and had it painted pink for her.
After we left Graceland, we went to Josh and Alicia's and ate dinner. We stayed at their house the next few nights.

The only constant

The only constant in life is change. It seems to always be changing when you least expect it. And sometimes when you need it to, in order to maintain some sort of sanity.
Lately, life has been a little bit less than enjoyable. Busy, stressful, and full of a lot of things that I was just hating. Once I made one major change, everything else has been a lot more enjoyable. I've decided to change my major, yet again. And for the first time in months, I feel like something is going the way that it should. I have loved the accounting program, up until this semester. Not only is it extremely hard, but I was not enjoying what I was learning. I was learning everything and doing what I had to get by. Not any extra. Just enough. After a lot of discussions with Isaac, we came to the conclusion that I needed a major change in life. I was stuck in the ruts, and felt like I was going no where.
We explored about a billion different options, trying to find out which one was going to be best for me, best for us. It ultimately came down to the fact that I didn't really see myself as an accountant in the future. I got to a certain point in the program, and just didn't feel it anymore. So, I am going to continue in school. Because heaven knows I didn't just waste the last four years of my life in college to not end up with a degree. I am going to get a bachelors degree of general studies. Essentially I am going to be taking a bunch of different classes. All upper division, so all hard. But, I will get to learn a lot of different things. There are so many different options, and I am honestly excited to have the option to learn about different things.
I am paying to go to school, I might as well enjoy it while I'm here. I have approximately a year left. 3 semesters, and then I will be done. I also have a whole boatload of elective classes, that have taught me so many things. I don't regret doing accounting, because it taught me a whole lot about everything. But, I'm ready to enjoy my education. I love learning, so much. But there comes a point, when I need to learn something that interests me.

On a different note, I love my husband. He has been so good this semester at helping me out. He is great at making sure we are always fed, and that I stay sane. He truly is my better half, and I'm glad that I don't have to do this life without him. I look forward to the day when I will hopefully be able to stay at home and take care of him and our family.

While driving in the car tonight, this next song came on the radio. Isaac's first words were, "Remember when you cried to this right before I left for college?" Yeah... Yeah. It just so happens, that change is the most terrifying thing for me, but it always leads to bigger and better things. Here's to the next year.

Adventure is out there

We worked a lot this summer. We didn't have a lot of time to do fun things, but we definitely made the best out of the time that we did have.

We went up to Idaho Falls for our anniversary in May, and stayed at Destinations Inn. We were also able to do a session at the temple. Which just so happened to be the Spanish speaking session.

We ate the top of our wedding cake. A little dry, but not terrible!!

I was able to see one of my very best friends, Lynsie for a little bit. She came over and ate dinner and played games at our house.

We went to the fireworks in Idaho Falls, like always.

We went to a Gloriana, Craig Morgan, and Martina McBride concert in Idaho Falls.

We went to Lava Hot Springs and floated the river with our friends Marc & Beth Ann Soelberg.

We played a round of golf with my family.
We went and saw Wicked the musical in Salt Lake City with my family.

Had the biggest snow cone of our lives.

We did the whole30 for about a week and a half, and found some awesome recipes from that!

Isaac hiked Mount Borah with his dad and the scouts in his dad's ward.

We went to Park City and stayed in a condo with Isaac's family for a couple of days. We also went to the Hogle Zoo while we were there.
Sloths are my favorite, so Isaac bought me a stuffed sloth.

 SLOTH

If you can understand, this is Aiden saying, orangutang. Or 'aratangatang'.

Lagging behind

I didn't think it had been so long since my last blog post. Just all summer.
Not too much has happened with us since April. Just working a ton, loving our new place of residence, and enjoying each other's company.
Life is so fast paced it's unreal. The older I get, the faster everything goes.
A few things that we are looking forward to in upcoming months are: seeing Wicked (the musical) in SLC on August 1st, visiting Isaac's brother and his family in October, and we may have something tropical in our future.
On another note, I chopped my hair all off about a month or so ago. Which was so exciting. I have loved it. It is starting to grow out, and I'm definitely not liking that one bit.
